are unable to lie motionless for 30-40 minutes. •
Patients that experience pain lying motionless for short periods
of time.
• Claustrophobia.

conditions requiring direct medical supervision. |
What patients should
expect:
The patient will be instructed
on the need to fast prior to the procedure. In general, an eight-hour
stomach emptying time is desirable. Small children are scheduled
as early in the day as possible. If the procedure is scheduled
later in the day, 4 ounces of clear liquids may be given up to
2 hours prior to the beginning of the procedure.
The patient should arrive 20 minutes prior to procedure.
A nurse will review the patient’s medical history and perform
a brief medical assessment. They will be asked about underlying
medical conditions and current medications being taken. The patient
will be under anesthesia for approximately 30-40 minutes during
the procedure. After the procedure is complete, the patient will
be moved to a recovery room where a trained PACU nurse will supervise
their recovery. Total time of procedure from arrival to leaving
the clinic is approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.
